Around the corner from our Brighton Studio, this project explores refurbishment and extension through a loft conversion with a full width dormer. The client wanted to improve their home to accomodate a home office and future bedroom should the family grow.
With the changing nature of work over the pandemic, homes like those in Hanover Street will have to be future proofed in a sensitive way to accommodate changing work and family life patterns. The proposed rear dormer will provide a much needed high quality home office to this residential property and give this young family the room to grow in the future increasing the carrying capacity potential of the land by 33%.
The site is located in a conservation area and required a highly sensitive but contemporary approach to the design. We are currently waiting on the decision from Brighton and Hove planning department.
